INFRASTRUCTURE

The LGU’s various existing farm-to-market roads are badly in need of repairs and Maintenance. The said roads are hardly passable, especially during rainy season. On the other hand, some of the existing heavy equipment are already dilapidated and are very old, service-life-wise. Thus, it often bogs down during operations and would often take weeks before it would ran again, delaying the lined-up projects. Also, the LGU’s heavy equipment are not adequate to rehabilitate nor construct the various existing and proposed farm to market roads of the municipality. With the present administration’s thrust towards agriculture, the LGU has prioritized the rehabilitation/construction of farm-to-market roads in order to help the farmers in the transportation of their products and in turn, materialize the administration’s goals. There is a need to mobilize resources for the procurement of additional heavy equipment.

UTILITIES

The potable water supply in the poblacion and barangays Langatian, Piao and Nabilid  is from the  Municipal Water District which is a private institution. There are about 880 households using LWWA as source of water. All other barangays in the municipality are with developed spring. Deep well, shallow well and  open spring are among other  source of water in all other barangays.

Power supply in this municipality is solely supplied by the Zamboanga del Norte Electric Cooperative (ZANECO).  Eighteen (18) barangays of this municipality has power supply  and there are more or less 3,500 households with power supply.

Transportation available in this municipality is in various type.  In the poblacion, busses, vans, jeepneys and  motorcabs are available. The Lillian Bus Company and Mary May Bus Company  are the major transportation companies operating which has a coverage area  from Dipolog City to  Zamboanga City.  There are also private owned  motorcyles, automobiles and other vehicles used. In the hinter barangays, jeepneys and  a  motorcyle with extension called “habal-habal” is their means of transportation and being commonly used.

The municipality  in terms of communication is easy because of the presence of the  “Telepono ng Bayan”  in every barangay and also the Local Government Unit of Roxas has its own Telecommunication Office  that can accommodate long distance calls here and abroad and equipped with a fax machine for messages. There are also several number of cellular phones functioning owned by individuals and payphones using cards are also visible in some of the sari-sari stores.

SECURITY, LAW AND ORDER

The municipality, by far, is a peaceful community with its constituents enjoying the freedom and safety of walking around at night without harmful repercussions. However, inspite  of the anti-illegal gambling and anti-drug abuse campaign of the municipality through the PNP, these illegal activities are still at work. Also, there are reports reaching this LGU that armed men have been sighted at the various far-flung Barangays of this municipality. In relation to the state of peace and order nationwide, these sightings could not be undermined. However, the municipality has no adequate number of police personnel. At  present, the PNP are on Red Alert status due to the reported  threat of the MILF and Abu Sayaff groups in Zamboanga del Norte. In this light, assistance from the higher  PNP and military  personnel is badly needed.
